Xtra Happy The Murlocs present "Australian Idiot"! Uncle Murl's first concept album is a coming-of-age story of a rebellious and disenfranchised youth escaping his shithole of a home and finding his way on the streets.

Much like its protagonist, Rapscallion takes a left turn to the regular Murlocs formula; going for more of a power pop/glam rock edge - shown best on opener 'Subsidiary' and closer 'Growing Pains'. Other more classic Murl sounds can be heard, like in the very CCR-esque 'Compos Mentis'. Favorite track: Growing Pains.

about

The Murlocs Melbourne, Australia

Five skinny kids with roots firmly placed in their own blown-out, distorted brand of soulful RnB.
Formed in early 2011 by harp player Ambrose Kenny-Smith, The Murlocs have already played alongside Thee Oh Sees, Graveyard Train and Dave Graney.
Their up-tempo snare cracks and noisy doom guitar - accompanied by Ambrose's vocal screech - has been described as a mesmerising demented dance party.
